The public is frightened in general, while professionals are frightened because these works remind them of the myths about wild Asian people that have floated through the media and mental space of the enlightened West for the past few centuries. These are the exact brutal guys they were expecting to see coming from the East!
But we, of course, understand that, first of all, all these centaurs and their “smackdown” are Yerbol’s way of updating a story that’s really about all of us.
